Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
